Volleyball Falls to No. 5 Georgia Tech, Meyer Tabbed to All-Tournament Team

Junior Emily Meyer led FIU with 43 kills over the weekend

ATLANTA, Ga. – Junior Emily Meyer paced FIU with her fourth consecutive double-figure kill match on Sunday to be named to the Georgia Tech Invitational All-Tournament Team, as the Panthers fell to No. 5 Georgia Tech in straight sets at O'Keefe Gymnasium to conclude this weekend's action in Atlanta, Ga. 
 
Meyer led the Panthers with 13 kills, five digs and a block, as she tallied 43 kills on the weekend for an average of 3.91/s to receive all-tournament team recognition. ­­
 
Setter Camila De La Rosa paced FIU with 21 assists, five digs and an ace, while Athina Dimitriadis contributed three kills and two blocks. Alyssa Wissinger added two kills and two blocks, followed by Madison Morgan with three kills. Paige Thibault chipped in two kills and four digs, as freshman Madisen Miller also added four digs and an ace. Libero Katie Turner finished with six digs and an ace.
 
The Panthers traded leads with the fifth-ranked Yellow Jackets to begin the match prior to being edged late in the first, 25-21. Georgia Tech then began clicking on all cylinders, hitting .360 and .381 over the final two sets while tallying 13 blocks in the match to come away with double-figure margins in the second (25-11) and third sets (25-9).
 
The Yellow Jackets were led by Julia Bergmann with eight kills, six blocks, six digs and an ace, followed by Bianca Bertolino with six kills, three aces, nine digs and a block.

FIU returns to action when it travels to compete in the Arkansas Invitational on Sept. 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark. The Panthers will open with a matchup against Arkansas Little Rock on Thursday, Sept. 8, slated for a 6 p.m. ET start.
