GAINESVILLE, Fla (November 10, 2023) - The FIU cross country program concluded its 2023 season Friday morning at the NCAA South Regional, with the Panther women earning a 19th place finish, besting the 23rd place mark from last year. 

Junior Valerie Lastra led the Panther, finishing the 6K course in 20:07, and placing 46th overall. Lastra was joined by Lorena Bartakovic, Andrea Loizidou, Ania San Roman Lopez, and Lisa Adjouadi as runners who scored for FIU. 

"I'm proud of the season this group put together this year," said head distance coach Jermaine Felix. "They've been committed since summer training began and have continued to elevate this program." 

RESULTS

Barbara Hernandez and Hannah Buchanan also competed for the Panthers.

FIU will now prepare for the upcoming indoor track and field season, set to begin in January.
