MIAMI, Fla - The FIU women's basketball team (3-2) won 88-59 against Bryant University (3-3) Friday afternoon at the Oceanbank Convocation Center.
The Panthers had control for the majority of the afternoon with the final score being their largest lead of the game. FIU jumped out to an early lead with their best shooting of the year, going 10-11 from the field in the first quarter, including 2-2 from three.
FIU continued their hot 3-point shooting throughout the game, pulling away from the Bulldogs and ending the contest 13-23, good for a stellar 56.5%. Seven Panthers would hit at least one 3-pointer, totaling 13 buckets from behind the arc in the afternoon. They would tie the program record for most 3-pointers made in a game set in 2009 against NC State.
Mya Kone set the tone for the Panthers all game, ending the game a perfect 8-8 from the field, and 5-5 from three. She would finish with 22 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal to cap off her second double-double of the season.
Mya Kone, Angena Belloso and Ajae Yoakum all scored double digits. Belloso, back in the starting lineup, would end with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals in the game. Yoakum, coming off a double-double herself against Coppin State, continued her good play with 14-point game on an efficient 6-8 shooting.
FIU once again went deep into their bench, with 11 Panthers logging minutes against Bryant.
