MIAMI, Fla - The FIU women's basketball team (3-3) fell 59-57 to William and Mary (2-4) at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center Sunday afternoon to wrap up the FIU Thanksgiving Tournament.
It was a back and forth battle for the majority of the contest, with the game coming down to a last second shot by FIU which was evidently short. The Panthers trailed going into the half, but a big third quarter from graduate student Courtney Prenger gave the lead back to the Panthers. Prenger had 7 points, going 3-3 in the quarter. The Ohio native would end the game with nine points and four rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers would see their lead falter in the fourth as Willam and Mary outscored FIU 15-11. Sophomore Mya Kone would once again be a force coming down the stretch, with seven of her 16 points coming in the final frame. Kone would end the game with 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. The transfer student earned all-tournament honors thanks to her stellar play in both of FIU's Thanksgiving Tournament games.
Sophomore Angena Belloso would be the only other Panther to score in double digits. She ended the game with 11 points on 4-7 shooting, including 2-3 from beyond the arc. Belloso complimented her solid offensive day with four rebounds, one assist and three steals.
