BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — FIU's volleyball program fought to a four-set defeat at 23rd-ranked Western Kentucky in Conference USA (CUSA) play on Friday evening.
The Panthers (12-15, 8-5 CUSA) stormed out to a 25-22 victory in the first set, but a resilient WKU (23-4, 13-0 CUSA) team claimed the final three frames.Â
Yasso Amin led the attack with 11 kills and added two service aces. Jade Sadeiko was also in double digits with 10 kills.Â
Savannah Cook dished out 34 assists while Mandi Morioka led the defense with nine digs. Madisen Miller and Sadeiko each chipped in seven digs.Â
The Panthers racked up 14 kills and hit .235 compared to WKU's 11 kills and .156, a key factor in winning the opening set. This was the first set that the Hilltoppers had dropped in their last nine CUSA matches.Â
