Miami, Fla.– The 15^th ranked FIU beach volleyball team will welcome Texas A&M Corpus Christi for their home opener on Thursday, March 2 at 4 p.m. at the FIU Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Panthers (3-2, 0-0 C-USA) are coming off their first action of the 2023 season after competing in the Seminole Beach Bash at Florida State University from Feb. 25-26. FIU went 3-2 overall and defeated two ranked opponents in No. 19 South Carolina and No. 13 Cal Poly.
 
Graduate student Milica Vukobrat and graduate student Rachele Mancinelli went a perfect 5-0 at the Seminole Beach Bash in court three including wins over No. 2 FSU, No. 20 University of Washington, and Coastal Carolina. For their efforts over the weekend, Vukobrat and Mancinelli were named Conference USA Pair of the Week.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-CC 
The Islanders are off to a 2-2 start after competing in the Third Coast College Classic from Feb. 25-26 hosted by Houston Christian University. Texas A&M- CC recorded wins over Central Arkansas and HCU.
 
Texas A&M-CC are the reigning Southland Conference Champions and are predicted to repeat as announced by the league office. The Islanders are coming off a 21-13 season including going 11-0 against SLC opponents to lead them to the 2022 Southland Tournament Championship and earn their first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
In addition, four student-athletes were named to All-Conference Teams last season in graduate student Kiley Lewis, senior Giuliana Poletti Corrales, and juniors Tori Johnson and Shea Slusser.
 
Last season was the first time both programs faced one another, and FIU came out victorious winning 4-1 during the Unconquered Invitational at FSU on April 9, 2022.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers will stay in Florida and head to West Palm Beach to compete in the Sailfish Tri-Match on March 14 hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University. FIU will take on PBA at 12 p.m. and then Florida Southern College at 2 p.m.
