No. 14 FIU Sweep at Sailfish Tri-Match, Earned Wins Over PBA and FSC

Panthers Extend their Win Streak to Four Matches

West Palm Beach, Fla. – The No. 14 FIU beach volleyball team improves its overall record to 6-2 after winning both of their matches at the Sailfish Tri-Match against Palm Beach Atlantic University, 3-2, and Florida Southern College, 5-0, at the Sailfish Beach Volleyball Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
 
In court one, Giada Bianchi and Alice Pratesi dropped their dual 21-13, 16-21, 15-11 while Rachele Mancinelli and Milica Vukobrat made their season debut in court 2 and came out victorious winning 21-14, 21-17
 
In court three, Roberta Ribeiro was paired with Zuzanna Bielak for the first time this season and they gave the Panthers the 2-1 lead winning in straight sets, 21-14, 21-15. Lisa Luini and Emily Meyer remained in court 4 and sealed the match for FIU winning a close battle that went to the wire in the third and final set, 21-18, 19-21, 15-13.

Sophomore transfer Madison Horton recorded her first action in 2023 in court five paired with Athina Dimitriadis and they dropped their dual against PBA, 21-16, 21-17. The Sailfish move to 7-8 on the season after dropping their home opener against the Panthers.
 
Going into FIU's second match of the day, a few lineup changes were made prior to their contest against FSC. Rachele Mancinelli and Milica Vukobrat moved to court one while Giada Bianchi and Alice Pratesi moved to court two.
 
Lisa Luini moved up to court three to pair with Zuzanna Bielak and switched spots with Roberta Ribeiro who paired with Emily Meyer in court four. Emma Braticevic and Kendra Brown made their season debuts in court five and the Panthers came out with a perfect 5-0 win over the Mocs.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers will head back home to host their annual Surf N' Turf Invitational at Lummus Park in Miami Beach on Friday March 17 through Saturday, March 18. The event is free and open to the public and will feature 10 schools including three that finished in the top 10 final AVCA poll in 2022.
 
The Panthers will face five schools in the two-day tournament starting against Florida Gulf Coast University on Friday, March 17 at 8 a.m.
