MIAMI (Mar. 15, 2023) – Baseball hosted cross-town rivals Miami on Wednesday night falling to the Canes, 7-3.
Junior
Ryne Guida performed well at the plate going 2-4 with two RBI against Miami. Guida is on a five-game hit streak and has racked up 11 RBI during the streak.
The FIU bats picked up where they had left off and pushed home two runs in the first.
A
Marcus O'Malley single and
Dante Girardi double put two runners in scoring position for Guida. Guida then ripped a single to right field to score them both.
A two-run home run in the top of the second for Miami knotted the game at 2-2.
The Panther regained the lead in the fourth after a hard-hit ball by
Mike Rosario to second allowed a run to score from third.
The score was once again brought to a tie, 4-4, after Miami was able to score another in the fifth.
Strong pitching and timely defensive plays from both teams would keep the score deadlocked heading into the ninth.
A double and a home run by Miami in the final frame would give them the win, 7-3.
