MIAMI (Mar. 22, 2023) – Baseball hosted No. 19 Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday falling to the Eagles, 12-5.

Dante Girardi went 1-3 on the night to extend his hit streak to 12 games.
Redshirt junior
Kevin Martin was untouchable in his three innings of work, sitting down nine-striaght batters with five strike outs.
The offense came early again as both teams scored in the first inning.
FGCU jumped out to an early lead after scoring three to lead off the game with the Panthers responding with two of their own.
Alec Sanchez pushed home FIU's first run with a RBI groundout with
Ryne Guida delivering an RBI double down the left field line to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of Florida Gulf Coast.
The Eagles added two more runs in their half of the second to make the score 5-2.
FIU cut the deficit to 5-3 in the fifth after a single by
Mike Rosario scored
Steven Ondina from second.
FGCU would push its advantage to 12-3 heading into the final frame.
The Panthers would score two more in the bottom of the ninth but eventually fall, 12-5.

The Panthers continue C-USA play this weekend with a home series against University of Alabama-Birmingham. Game one is on Friday March 24 with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Fans can also watch the game live on C-USA TV.
