MIAMI (April 6, 2023) – Baseball hosted cross-town rivals FAU for the first of three games on Thursday falling to the Owls, 8-4.
 
For the fifth-straight game, The Panthers would score in the first inning but would find themselves down, 2-1.
 
FAU pushed home two runs in the top of the first.
 
A leadoff double by Mike Rosario and a timely single through the right side by Dante Girardi would cut the Owl advantage in half.
 
FIU would go on to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth.
 
The Panthers would get the first three batters on base to load them with no outs. Adrian Figueroa would loop a ball into shallow center to score one.
 
Henry Wallen was plunked on a full count to push home the second run. The offensive spurt would close with a SAC fly from Brendan Roney to bring the score to 4-2 in favor of FIU.
 
The Owls would score three runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth and leave with a 8-4 win.
