MIAMI (May 23, 2023) – Redshirt senior Alec Sanchez was one of three FIU baseball players to earn All-Conference USA honors on Tuesday, collecting first-team honors following the conclusion of the Panthers' 2023 season.

Sanchez is the first Panther to be named to the All-CUSA First Team since Logan Allen in 2019, and he is one of only three outfielders to earn a spot on the First Team.

The Jacksonville native finished 2023 with a .331 batting average, totaling 59 hits, 35 RBI, and a team-best 13 home runs.

Sanchez closed out the season with a 35-game on-base streak and had five hit streaks of five or more games on the year. He also earned CUSA All-Academic team honors for his work in the classroom.

Junior Ryne Guida was named to the Second Team as a designated hitter. He is the first Panther to earn second-team All-CUSA honors since Austin Shenton in 2019.

Guida was among the top hitters in the conference, leading FIU in average (.366), hits (78), and RBI (50). His .366 average ranks third in CUSA and his 78 hits are tied for third. His 50 RBI are the most by a Panther since Edwin Rios hit 56 in 2015.

The Panthers' only true freshman, Roylan Quevedo, was named to the All-Freshman Team. He is the Panthers' first all-freshman honoree since Adrian Figueroa in 2021.

Quevedo came on strong in the second half of the season, seeing action in 23 games and starting 21 in the middle infield. His defense stood out as the freshman finished with 31 putouts, 46 assists and helped turn nine double plays.
