STARKVILLE, Miss – The FIU women's soccer put up a fight in the first half, before falling short to Mississippi State, 2-0, on Sunday night from Mississippi State Soccer field.
FIU (3-1-0, 0-0 CUSA) held the Bulldogs (3-0-1) held the Bulldogs to no goals in the first 45 minutes, including goalkeeper
Ithaisa Vinoly had two saves to close out the first half.
Mississippi State stormed back in the second half, outshooting FIU 13-1, and notched the first score of the night in the 61
st minute as Ilana Izquierdo scored in the bottom left corner, giving the Bulldogs the first lead.
A second goal came late in the 81
st minute with Izquierdo scoring a pair on the night to win 2-0.
On the night, the Panthers had three shots on goal notched by sophomores
Kim Schneider,
Brealyn Viamille, and junior
Noemi Paquin.
Vinoly totaled for seven saves, which is the most saves since netting eight against Marshall University on Sept. 24, 2021.
