MIAMI – The FIU women's soccer team had four different goal scorers on Thursday night to come away with a 4-0 shutout over the Stetson Hatters from FIU Soccer Stadium.
FIU (4-1-0, 0-0 CUSA) inked a pair of goals in each half including notching their third clean-sheet victory of the season.
The Panthers struck first in the 3
rd minute as following a sophomore
Noemi Paquin corner kick, junior
Reagan Bridges hit the header to the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
12 minutes later, in the 15
th minute, junior
Nikole Solis fired a pass down the field to sophomore
Brealyn Viamille who buried the goal in the bottom right corner as FIU led 2-0 heading into half.
Following the break, the Blue & Gold came out with energy as six minutes into the second half, Solis tallied her team-leading seventh off deflection by graduate student
Camille Sahirul. Solis has matched her season-high of seven goals from 2022 while sitting second in all of the nation in goals scored.
The fourth goal was tallied with under a minute left as sophomore
Kennedy Floyd ran past a defense to sink her third goal of her season, including her second in her past three games.
With the victory, FIU improves to a season-best 4-1, which is the best start in the program dating back to the 1996 campaign.
In addition, the Panther defense shined only allowing two shots to the Hatters while goalkeeper
Ithaisa Vinoly earned her conference-leading third shutout of the season.
Three Panthers tallied for points including Paquin, Sahirul and Solis on the evening.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday morning for a matchup against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Sep. 3.
