MIAMI – The FIU women's soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit as they scored a pair in the second half before notching a draw against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Sunday afternoon from FIU Soccer Stadium.
FIU (4-1-1, 0-0 CUSA) saw sophomore
Kim Schneider and junior
Noemi Paquin enter the score sheet with goals on the afternoon.
The Panthers were aggressive in the first 45 minutes, outshooting Louisiana, 11-6, however the Ragin' Cajuns took the lead first in the 26
th minute as Megan Bradley was all alone to give her team the lead.
A minute later, Louisiana added to their tally when Bradley found the net once again to give the Ragin' Cajuns a lead at half.
The FIU was battling and cashed in for the first time as in the 48
th minute, sophomore
Brealyn Viamille kicked a shot on goal that was deflected off the foot of the goalie before Paquin hit the upper center to notch the first goal for FIU. The junior from Montreal tallied her third goal of the year while Viamille recorder her second assist of the season.
Into the 73
rd minute, the Panthers had an opportunity when Schneider fired a shot just outside the box to tie up the game at 2-2. Schneider added with her fourth goal on the season, which is second on the team.
Both teams battled for the last 17 minutes as the match resulted in a draw.
On the afternoon. FIU led in shots with 20 including Schneider and Paquin who led the team in shots with six a piece.
In addition, goalkeeper
Ithaisa Vinoly made her sixth start of the season, notching three saves.
