MIAMI – The FIU women's soccer team returns back to Miami, beginning a five-game homestand on Thursday evening in a non-conference matchup against the Stetson Hatters.
Thursday, Aug. 31 vs. Stetson Hatters (0-4, 0-0 ASUN)
The Panthers (3-1, 0-0 CUSA) are coming off their first loss of the season this past Sunday, Aug. 27 against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 2-0. The Blue & Gold battled against the SEC foe holding the Bulldogs to no goals in the first 45, before falling short in the second half.
Through the first four games, the offense has set the tone for the program with 17 goals, which is the most in program history to begin the season.
They are led by junior
Nikole Solis, who leads the team in goals (6) and points (13), including sitting fourth best in the nation in goal scoring. In addition, her efforts this past week led her to being named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week.
A flurry of Panthers have shined early in the season including sophomore
Kim Schneider that is second on the team in goals (3) and points (7), while sophomore
Kennedy Floyd and junior
Noemi Paquin level with a pair of goals and five points.
Junior
Izelle Barriere has been a factor within the FIU offense with two goals and three shots. Sophomore
Catherine Rapp has the led the charge in assists with a total of three in the early campaign.
The backline has been a key for the FIU early success with juniors
Delinda Sehlin (312 min) and
Reagan Bridges (287 min) are tops in the team in minutes played.
Goalkeeper
Ithaisa Vinoly has started in all four games, having allowed just two goals, and has notched a total of 11 saves with a 0.54 goals against average.
SCOUTING STETSON
The Stetson Hatters are 0-4 into their matchup with FIU, coming off a 8-0 loss to the Florida Gators on Sunday, Aug. 27, giving up four goals in each of their halves.
The Hatters offense is led by redshirt sophomore Annika Seem, who leads the team in goals (3) and points (6) while taking home a Atlantic Sun Player of the Week nomination during the week of Aug. 22.
Goalkeeper Mallory Osborn has played in three games behind the net with 16 saves and a 4.00 GAA.
Stetson was placed eighth out of of the 12 teams in the ASUN Preseason Poll after finishing the 2022 campaign with a 6-11-1 season.
