GAINESVILLE, Fla (September 15, 2023) - The FIU cross country team competed in its second meet of the season Thursday at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville.
The women's team was led by sophomore
Sabrina Gomez, who ran a personal best of 19:32 to score first for the Panthers. She was followed by
Hannah Buchanan in 20:07, freshman
Luana Kopp in 20:32,
Sofia Bonini at 21;53, and
Daniela Alvarez at 21:53 to round out the top five.
Lana Kish,
Adrianna Rodriguez, and Tiana McPaul also competed for the Panthers.
On the men's side, freshman
Ryan Jones guided the Panthers with a 27:09, followed by by
Dennis Moreno in 28:15. Two freshmen,
Joseph Coyle and
Josh Webster, finished in 28:30 and 28:46, with
Jonathan Reyes being FIU's fifth runner at 29:11.
RESULTS
"We continue to improve and build depth and experience," said head distance coach
Jermaine Felix. "These meets will be valuable for our group moving forward."
The Panthers next competition will take place September 29 at the FSU Cross Country Invitational.
