MIAMI – The FIU volleyball team kicked off their home slate with an afternoon victory over in-state foe, the Jacksonville Dolphins, on Friday afternoon to begin the "305 Challenge". 

The Panthers won in a clean sweep taking down the Dolphins in three sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) to notch their first home win of the 2023 campaign. 

FIU jumped out to a 15-9 lead in set one before closing out on a 6-1 run to take the first set of the afternoon.  

Into the second set, the Blue & Gold rallied back. After Jacksonville took a 18-17 advantage, FIU went on a 8-4 run in large part to five errors costed by the Dolphins. 

To close out the matchup, the Panthers took control in set three with a large lead of six throughout the set, eventually winning by two to net the win. 

Senior Yasso Amin led FIU with 12 kills, her season-high thus far into the campaign. Senior Jade Sadeiko tallied for nine kills while graduate student notched eight kills in the match. 

Sophomore Mandi Morioka paced the Panthers with 16 digs and three services aces. Morioka has now reached 15+ digs in her past three matches.

The Panthers continue the "305 Challenge" tonight as they welcome in the Stetson Hatters at 7 PM.
