MIAMI –  Junior Noemi Paquin scored a pair of goals as she helped lift FIU to a 3-1 win over the UTEP Miners on Sunday morning to begin Conference USA play. 

FIU (6-2-1, 1-0 CUSA) tallied her first score in the 30th minute before notching her second goal in the 56th minute of the match to increase her goal total of the season to five. 

UTEP got on the board in the first 45 as Sheyliene Patolo hit the top right corner of the net to give the Miners the lead in the 19th minute. 

However in the 30th minute, FIU founds its footing as Paquin sunk a shot inside the box that found the top left of the net to cross in for the goal. 

Heading into the half, FIU outshot UTEP, 4-1, in a 1-1 matchup. 

The Panthers got right back on the pedal once again in the 56th as Paquin crossed three defenders to the find the net for her second goal of the afternoon, giving the Panthers a 2-1 edge.  

FIU added a third goal on the afternoon as in the 89th minute graduate student Camille Sahirul had a open lane to the net for her second goal of the year. 

On the day, the Blue & Gold notched a total of eight shots with Paquin leading in three while sophomore Kim Schneider added a pair. 

The six wins are already the most for the program through nine games since the 2001 season.

The Panthers will hit the road to Hunstville, Texas as they take on new CUSA member, the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
