MIAMI - The FIU Volleyball Team opened Conference USA play with a convincing 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 29-27) sweep of Louisiana Tech on Friday night at Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
The Panthers dominated the opening two sets as they limited the Bulldogs to a sub .200 hitting clip in each of the first two sets and .205 overall in the match.
Mackenzie Morgan led the way in the victory with a team-best 13 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
Syra Tanchin added a double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs. Mandi Morioka added 20 digs and a pair of service aces.
For the match, the Panthers hit .295 overall, including a .333 clip in the second.
The Panthers posted a total 12 block assists and one solo swat in the win. FIU also dropped in six service aces.
FIU closes out the weekend set with Louisiana Tech on Saturday in a 1 p.m. start in Miami.
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's finale vs. the Bulldogs, the Panthers will hit the road to Huntsville, Texas to take on the Sam Houston Bearkats on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. EST and Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. EST.
Both matches can be streamed on ESPN+.
