MEMPHIS, TENN – FIU Men's Soccer juniors Eduardo Mustre and Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro each scored goals in the final 17 minutes to secure a 2-1 victory over the Memphis Tigers on the road Saturday night.
Down a goal under 17 minutes left in the match, FIU scored a pair of goals in a span of six minutes late in the second half to lift the Panther to their second American Athletic conference victory of the season.
The flurry began in the 73rd minute when Mustre fired his team-leading fifth goal of the season to tie it up at one off an assist by Monteiro.
Three minutes later, Monteiro added a sensational goal from outside of the 18 hitting the top right corner of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.
Memphis scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute before FIU fought its way back, rattling off nine shots including five in the last 45 minutes.
