HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS — FIU'S volleyball program rolled to its fourth-straight sweep to begin Conference USA play, taking down Sam Houston State for the second consecutive day in straight sets.
The Panthers (8-9, 4-0 CUSA) trailed in the opening set, but came back to win the first frame 25-22. FIU used this momentum to handle SHSU in the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-17, respectively.
FIU's 4-0 start in Conference USA marks the best start in conference action in program history.
Offensively, the Panthers attacked at a .281 clip and racked up 40 kills on 96 attacks. FIU continued to pose a strong net presence, holding SHSU to a .121 attacking percentage with six blocks. The Panthers were also effective from the service line with eight aces in the match.
Individually, Jade Sadeiko posted 10 kills at a blistering .444 clip, adding two blocks. Mackenzie Morgan was also in double-digits with a team-high 11 kills on 30 attempts. Syra Tanchin produced on both ends with six kills and 20 digs. Savannah Cook facilitated the attack with 32 assists for her third-straight performance with 30-plus assists.
