MIAMI – FIU women's soccer coach Eric Dobrzanski has been promoted to the title of Associate Head Coach, effective immediately, FIU head coach
Jonathan Garbar announced on Friday.
Dobrzanski, who will be entering his second season as a member of the Panthers' staff, has been pivotal in all areas for FIU, on the pitch and in the recruiting rankings.
"Over the past year, Eric has played a vital role in all significant areas of the program's development. His ability to influence operational intricacies, recruiting objectives, player development, and important administrative duties, is nothing short of first class," Garbar said. "Without the consistent commitment he demonstrates towards his colleagues, student athletes and department, our program would not be in the competitive and progressive position it finds itself in, today. Congratulations are due to Eric, and his growing family!"
Dobrzanski helped guide the Panthers to their most successful season as members of Conference USA, posting the program's highest winning percentage since 2012, while qualifying for the conference tournament.
In addition, the Panthers recorded a program-record of all-conference honorees, led by
Noemi Paquin's All-CUSA First Team Selection.
Dobrzanski comes to FIU after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Lynn University, prior to spending 10 seasons as the head women's soccer coach at Johnson & Wales University (Fla.) prior to his stint at Lynn.
While at Johnson & Wales, Dobrzanski led JWU-North Miami to the most wins in program history and three conference tournament semifinals appearances, in addition to coaching the program's first NAIA All-American, Conference Freshman Player of the Year and Conference Player of the Year.
He was named Sun Conference Coach of the Year a trio of times in his career in 2011, 2014 and 2019, and under his leadership, the Johnson & Wales staff was recognized as the NAIA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2019. Additionally, he was inducted into the JWU-North Miami Athletics Hall of Fame in April 2021.
Prior to JWU, Dobrzanski served as the associate head coach at Thomas University (Ga.) for three seasons, and in the summer of 2011, took over as the head coach of the Cayman Islands U-20 Women's National Team. He led the national team through U-20 World Cup Qualifying, which saw them advance into the second stage of group play.
