MIAMI – The FIU swimming and diving program is set to welcome in the Marshall Thundering Herd for a dual meet Monday afternoon from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.

The Panthers return to competition on Monday, marking its first meet since a strong second-place finish at the Purdue Invitational in November—the program's best result at the invitational since 2019.
Diving action will begin at 4 p.m. with the 3-meter competition, followed by swimming events at 5 p.m.
This dual meet against Marshall will be the first between the two programs since 2022, as last season's matchup was canceled due to weather. Notably, it will also be FIU's final non-conference showdown with Marshall, as the Thundering Herd are set to join the American Athletic Conference in the 2025-26 season, alongside James Madison and Liberty.
LAST TIME OUT
FIU shined at the Purdue Invitational, finishing second overall with 737 points while recording four NCAA "B" cuts and 17 top-five finishes across various events.
Junior
Nicole Frank highlighted the meet with three top-five finishes. The junior claimed third in the 200 IM (1:59.52), marking the seventh-fastest time in program history, and earned an NCAA "B" cut with a runner-up finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.62). Frank also placed fifth in the 400 IM (4:20.61).
Freshman
Sally Olsson notched an NCAA "B" cut in the 200 breaststroke, finishing third with a time of 2:12.30—currently second in The American and 61st nationally. Olsson also placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.98), ranking fifth in the conference this season. Her performances earned her AAC Swimming Freshman of the Week honors.
Sophomore
Diana Santamaria excelled in sprint events, contributing to five top-five finishes, including victories in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.31) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:37.55).
On the diving boards, graduate student
Av Osero led FIU with two top-four finishes, earning a zone cut in the 3-meter with a score of 305.18—the eighth-best in program history. She also delivered the sixth-best mark in FIU history in the 1-meter event (310.73
Freshman
Brooke Megdall posted a breakout performance, achieving lifetime bests and zone cuts in multiple events. She scored 242.60 on platform (fourth place) and 287.18 in the 3-meter final (seventh place). Megdall earned her third consecutive AAC Diving Freshman of the Week honor for her achievements.
SCOUTING THE HERD
Marshall enters Monday's matchup with a 2-1 dual meet record, having secured victories over Buffalo and James Madison.
At the House of Champions midseason meet, the Thundering Herd claimed first place out of 13 teams, including AAC opponent North Texas. Earlier this season, Marshall also secured a win over West Virginia at the West Virginia Games.
Last season, Marshall finished second at the Sun Belt Championships, compiling 779.5 points.
