Women's Hoops Drops their Contest Against Liberty

Kaliah Henderson puts up a game high 17 points

Miami, Fla  — The FIU Women's Basketball Team falls to Liberty on the road 71-56.

Liberty (13-14, 8-4 CUSA) jumped out to an early lead, going on a 6-0 and 5-0 run, and would not give up the lead for the rest of the contest. The Panthers went into the half down, 35-19.

FIU found their offense in the second half, putting up 21 points in the third quarter led by the efforts of sophomore Mya Kone and graduate student Courtney Prenger who both had six in the frame. Those would be the only points for Kone while Prenger finished the contest with 11 points and five rebounds.

In the fourth, the Panthers still could not find their rhythm, leading to only their third loss of conference play.

Junior Tanajah Hayes had another great night, putting up 16 points, corralling four rebounds and dishing out four assists. The guard also ended with two steals, making that 181 career steals and solidifying her place as 10th all-time in steals at FIU. Graduate student Kaliah Henderson also emerged as a bright spot, tying the game-high with 17 points. Eight of her points came from the charity stripe, where she went 8-10, her most made free-throws on the year. The guard also brought in six steals and had a game-high four steals.
