MIAMI - The FIU baseball program opened up a four-game weekend set with the Seton Hall Pirates, dropping Friday night's matchup in a 12-3 decision from FIU Baseball Stadium.
The Pirates jumped on the Panthers early, scoring seven runs through the first five innings to hold a 7-0 advantage.
FIU railled in the fifth chipping in on a two-run homer to right centerfield off
Jeff Liquori, The senior finished the night with three hits, his second three-hit effort of the season with a a trio of hits against LIU on Feb. 17.

Alex Ulloa in the sixth to cut the deficit to four.
However, Seton Hall racked up five runs combined including a four-run ninth to extend their lead to 12-3, closing away for a game one victory on Friday night.
Junior pitcher
Logan Runde made his first collegiate career start for the Panthers, going four innings of work allowing two earned runs over the span, and gave up seven hits in his first loss of the year,
Freshman
Evan Alwine fired a scoreless 1.1 innings pitched with a strikeout, while
Bryce Greene gave up a run in 1.2 innings pitched and struck out a pair.
Engelhard added in with a two-hit night as the senior secured his third multi-hit game of the early campaign.
