JACKSONVILLE, Ala - The FIU baseball program dropped game one of the three-game series to Jacksonville State, losing 18-7 on Friday night.
FIU jumped out to an 1-0 lead in the second. After a leadoff double from Alex Ulloa, Jeff Liquori notched his team-leading 30th RBI of the season on a single into left centerfield.
The Gamecocks stormed back, tying up the ballgame at one in the bottom half of the inning before totaling for 13 runs in the third to jump out to an 14-1 after three innings.
Jacksonville State tacked on four more runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 18-2. FIU added with five runs in the seventh, led by a three-run homer from Brylan West, his fourth homer of the season. In addition, West notched a pair of hits, his seventh multi-hit game of the year
Cameron Knox (1-3) was tagged with the loss, giving up three earned runs over two innings of work. Bryce Greene worked 2.1 innings out of the pen, allowing two earned runs and struck out a pair.
