FIU will begin and end the season against 2023-24 conference champions Middle Tennessee

7/11/2024 2:15:00 PM

MIAMI – FIU women's basketball, in conjunction with Conference USA, released the women's basketball conference schedules for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley will be leading the helm for her fifth season. The Panthers will look to continue off the success of the 2023-24 season, in a year where the team won 20+ games and made it to the second round of the Postseason WNIT for the first time since the 2011-12 season. The team will be welcoming back last season's CUSA Newcomer of the Year, forward Mya Kone and Second Team All-Conference selection, guard Tanajah Hayes.

The schedule consists of nine home and nine away games, totalling 18 games for this season's conference schedule. The addition of Kennesaw State added two games from last season, giving Conference USA an even 10 teams for the upcoming season.

FIU will be tested to start the new year, traveling to Murfreesboro to take on the 2024 CUSA Champions Middle Tennessee on Jan. 2, 2025. The Panthers will then head to Bowling Green to take on Western Kentucky on Jan. 4. FIU had the Hilltoppers number last season, going undefeated against WKU for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

The Panthers' first home games of conference play will come against Louisiana Tech on Jan. 9 and Sam Houston on Jan. 11, respectively. FIU went 2-0 against both teams last season, with FIU sweeping LA Tech for the first time in program history.

The Panthers will head west to face off against New Mexico State (Jan. 16) and University of Texas-El Paso (Jan. 18). The Panthers handled UTEP both games last season, beating the Miners in both of their matchups by 20+ points and also completing the season sweep.

FIU will stay on the road to clash against Liberty on Jan. 25. The Flames made it to the championship of last year's conference tournament before falling to Middle Tennessee. The Panthers went 1-1 against the runner-ups, beating Liberty at home before dropping their matchup on the road.

FIU will welcome Jacksonville State and Conference USA newcomer, Kennesaw State, to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, respectively. FIU will then travel to Ruston, Louisiana to battle against Louisiana Tech (Feb. 6) and then to Huntsville, Texas to matchup against Sam Houston (Feb.8).

The Panthers will return home and welcome New Mexico State and UTEP for the second matchup against both teams on Feb. 13 and 15, respectively, with Liberty coming to Miami on Feb. 22 for their ensuing meeting with FIU.

The Panthers will hit the road once again, playing at Kennesaw State on Feb. 27, before traveling to Jacksonville, Alabama to face off against Jacksonville State for their final road game of the season on March 1.

FIU will cap off regular season play at home against Western Kentucky on March 6, and Middle Tennessee on March 8.

The Conference USA Basketball Championships will once again occur in Huntsville, Alabama at the Propst Arena from March 11-15.
