MIAMI — FIU's volleyball program, under the direction of head coach Cristina Robertson, announced its 2024 schedule on Monday afternoon.
The Panthers 2024 slate features a non-conference slate packed with Big 10, Big 12, SEC and ACC opponents amidst four highly-competitive tournaments at Dayton, Duke, South Carolina and its own 305 Challenge in Miami.
FIU will also take on its Conference USA (CUSA) schedule, which has 18 conference matches spanning from Sept. 27-Nov. 16. FIU will then travel to El Paso, Texas for the 2024 Conference USA Championships, Nov. 22-24. The Panthers posted a solid 8-8 record in CUSA play in 2023 and advanced to the CUSA Championships Semifinals for the first time since 2018.
The season begins on August 30 at the Dayton Flyer Invitational as FIU matches up with UNI at 11 a.m. The Panthers will take on Ohio State later on that day and wrap up their first weekend with a tilt against host-Dayton.
The Panthers then return for a non-conference single match at FAU on Sept. 3. Robertson will then be making a return to Duke, where she served as Assistant Coach, for a three-match weekend against LSU, Duke and Davidson.
FIU's final road tournament will be in Columbia, S.C., taking on Wake Forest, South Carolina and Stetson, Sept. 13-14, respectively.
The Panthers open up play inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. against Texas Tech to start up the 305 Challenge. FIU then hosts Arkansas the following evening at 5 p.m. before taking on in-town rival Miami in Coral Gables on Sept. 21.
Conference play begins on Sept. 27-28 with a two-game set against UTEP. FIU then travels to Middle Tennessee Oct. 4-5 before a four-match homestand against Liberty (Oct. 8-9) and Western Kentucky (Oct. 12-13).
The Panthers then head to Las Cruces, N.M. for two matchups at New Mexico State on Oct. 18-19. FIU goes back to the 305 to take on CUSA-newcomer Kennesaw State on Oct. 25-26. The Panthers have their final two CUSA road series following the KSU matches at Jacksonville State (Nov. 1-2) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 8, Nov. 10).
In between, FIU hosts in-state foe FGCU at home on Nov. 6. Following the two-game series in Ruston, the Panthers have their final two home games of 2024, hosting Sam Houston on Nov. 15-16.
