10/22/2026 9:33:00 AM

JACKSONVILLE, Ala.– FIU volleyball (12-9, 3-5 CUSA) is on a roll headed into a two-game slate at Jax State (3-17, 0-8) this weekend, playing at 7:00 p.m. Friday and 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be on ESPN+.

Opening Serve
FIU heads to Jax State for a weekend series beginning Friday. FIU took down Jax State twice last season.

The Panthers swept Liberty twice in their previous action, improving to 3-5 in conference play and recording their first back-to-back sweeps in a month. Jillian Huckabey (34 kills, 5.67/set) and Marta Lazzarin (37 digs, 6.17/set) earned POTW honors from Conference USA.

Matchup History
- FIU has met the Gamecocks seven times in history, playing to a 5-2 record in those matchups and 5-1 since JSU joined Conference USA.
- In 2025, FIU won both meetings in Miami - a reverse sweep on Halloween and a sweep on Nov. 1.
- FIU split the only meetings in Jacksonville back in 2024.

Notable Storylines
- Huckabey was simply outstanding against the Flames all weekend, recording 34 kills (5.67/set) and hitting .325 overall. She had a career-high 25 kills on Friday, going 25-3-49 (.449). It was the second 25-kill effort of the season for the Panthers, and the highest hitting % in a 25-kill match since Lucia Castro hit .533 (27-3-45) against South Dakota State on 9/12/14. Jill became the first FIU player to hit over .400 with 25+ kills since Katie Hogan hit .417 (25-8-48) against MTSU on 11/10/16. For her efforts during the weekend, Huckabey was named CUSA Offensive POTW.
- Lazzarin was all over the floor in the weekend against Liberty, averaging 6.17 digs/set as the Panthers swept the Flames twice. She had 21 digs in three sets (7/set) on Friday and another 16 on Saturday, and for her efforts, she was named CUSA Defensive POTW, her first in CUSA but second since being named Sun Belt DPOTW a little over a year ago.
- Rayne Williams shined in the two matches over the weekend but specifically Saturday, recording five total blocks for the fourth time this season and seventh in her career, leading the team with 55.
- Ivona Lazovic is 43rd in the NCAA with 33 aces, continuing her pressure from the service line.
- Teodora Skocajic had her multi-block game streak snapped at eight on Friday, but has ten games in a row with at least one. She has 41 this season, second on the team behind Williams.
