MIAMI - Reagan Bridges has been named a semifinalist for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, one of just 20 student-athletes in the country to have made it this far.
The award, which was first presented in 2005 and is named after legendary Coach John Wooden, celebrates athletes who excel in their sport, demonstrate exceptional leadership, contribute meaningfully to their community and embody the highest standards of personal character.Â
The top three finalists will be announced in mid-February and will be invited to the star-studded awards ceremony on April 25 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
The former FIU defender has had a huge impact on her surrounding community which includes the Relay for Life Halloween Carnival as well as the Letters for Love program. The recent graduate also packaged and distributed food at a local food drive, and did arts and crafts with underserved youth at a Back to School event.
Bridges excelled on and off the pitch this season. The CUSA All-Academic recipient earned a 3.99 GPA for the Fall semester, pursuing a Bachelors of Science Chemistry and Natural and Applied Sciences degree. The Colorado-native earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District list as well, her third time achieving the honor.
The center-back and leader of an FIU defense that allowed zero goals in the CUSA Women's Soccer Championships, did so en route to their first ever Conference USA Tournament Championship, and third ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Playing the most minutes on the Panthers this season (1,778) for a defense that allowed just .89 goals a game during the 2024 campaign, Bridges was recognized as the CUSA Defensive Player of the Year.Â
