GAINESVILLE, Fla. — FIU's women's indoor track and field program competed at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday, opening its 2025 slate.
The Panthers competed in their first event of the 2025 calendar year and racked up two event victories and a combined seven top-three finishes.
Michaelle Valentin headlined the FIU finishers with a first-place finish in the weight throw, notching a mark of 20.98 meters, setting a facility record. Her mark is currently 10th in all of the NCAA.
FIU went on to sweep the top three places in the weight throw as Elizabeth Alfred (18.81 meters) and Janiya Cesar (personal-best 17.25 meters) secured second and third place, respectively.
Freshman Amaya Bien-Aime put on a show in the high jump, taking first place, clearing a height of 1.73 meters, second all-time for a Panther freshman. Luca Keszthelyi finished second right behind her teammate with a mark of 1.65 meters.
Nicole Janse Van Rensburg took second with a facility record 4.0 meters cleared in the pole vault. In the triple jump Danielle McGonigle secured third place, rounding out FIU's top-three finishers.

The Panthers will head back to Gainesville for the RADD Sports Invitational Jan. 24-25.
