HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The FIU volleyball program opened its weekend slate, earning a four-set victory over Sam Houston on Friday evening on the road.
The Panthers (9-8, 3-2 CUSA) extended their winning streak in the all-time series against the Bearkats to six straight, taking the match by scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, and 25-14.
Senior
Kira Givans continued her strong run of form, recording her second consecutive 20-kill outing with 22 kills, five service aces, and five digs. It marked her fourth straight match with double-digit kills and 10th overall this season.
Senior
Magda Stambrowska turned in another consistent performance, totaling 12 kills, her third straight match in double figures, while adding four digs and a team-high four blocks. Sophomore
Jillian Huckabey contributed nine kills and six digs, providing steady offense throughout the night.
On the defensive side,
Courtney O'Brien registered 13 digs and four kills, while libero
Mandi Morioka collected 12 digs and five assists.
Setter
Savannah Cook continued to steer the FIU attack, recording her sixth double-double of the season — and second straight — with 43 assists and 10 digs. Maliyah Labrie also chipped in offensively with four kills.

FIU looks to secure the series sweep of Sam Houston Saturday afternoon. It is set for a 2 p.m. match and can be streamed live on ESPN+ from the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
