HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The FIU volleyball program closed out its weekend road trip in dominant fashion, earning a straight-set sweep over Sam Houston on Saturday afternoon at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The Panthers (10-8, 4-2 CUSA) secured their second conference sweep of the season — following a two-match sweep of Missouri State on Sept. 26-27 — while extending their unbeaten streak against Sam Houston to 7-0 all-time.
FIU controlled the match from start to finish, taking set wins of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-22.
Offensively, three Panthers posted double-digit kill performances. Senior
Kira Givans led the charge with 15 kills, four service aces, and three blocks, marking her fifth straight match with double-digit kills and 11th overall this season.
Sophomore
Jillian Huckabey followed with 11 kills, nine digs, and two assists, notching her fourth double-digit kill outing of the year. Senior
Magda Stambrowska added 10 kills and a team-high four blocks, recording her fourth consecutive 10+ kill performance.
Courtney O'Brien contributed across the board with nine kills, six digs, and three service aces, while setter
Savannah Cook directed the attack with 40 assists and seven digs — her seventh match of the season with 40 or more assists.
Defensively, libero
Mandi Morioka anchored the back row with 14 digs.
