FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FIU volleyball program battled through a five-set thriller but came up short on the road against FGCU Tuesday night at Alico Arena.
FIU (12-9) jumped out to a two-set lead with scores of 25-23 and 26-24 before the Eagles rallied to take the final three frames, 25-20, 25-20, and 15-13.
Senior
Kira Givans led the Panthers with a team-high 17 kills, marking her 13th double-digit performance of the season, while also adding three blocks.
Sophomore
Jillian Huckabey notched her sixth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs, continuing her strong play on the outside.
Three Panthers —
Rebekah Pfefferkorn,
Magda Stambrowska, and
Sofie Vogel — each contributed eight kills apiece. Stambrowska added five blocks, while Vogel recorded six to anchor the front line.
Junior setter
Savannah Cook paced the offense with 46 assists, adding seven digs and four blocks, while senior libero
Mandi Morioka posted a team-high 19 digs and four assists.

FIU heads to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on the Liberty Flames on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25 in CUSA action. Match on Friday is set for 6 p.m. from Liberty Arena and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
