LYNCHBURG, Va. – The FIU volleyball program continued its dominant stretch in Conference USA play, rolling to a four-set win over Liberty on Saturday afternoon inside Liberty Arena.
FIU (14-9, 8-2 CUSA) secured its sixth straight conference victory, marking the program's longest Conference USA win streak since joining the league in 2013. The Panthers have now won six of their last seven matches and recorded their most overall wins since the 2018 season.
The Panthers took the opening two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-22, before Liberty answered with a 25-23 win in the third. FIU closed the door in the fourth with a 25-19 victory to earn its fifth consecutive win over the Flames.
Senior
Kira Givans led the way with 17 kills, marking her 14th double-digit performance of the season. Freshman
Rebekah Pfefferkorn continued her breakout campaign with 16 kills on a blistering .593 hitting percentage, recording back-to-back matches with 10-plus kills.
Sophomore
Jillian Huckabey turned in her third consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs, while senior middle blocker
Magda Stambrowska added nine kills, a team-best six blocks, and five digs. Graduate student
Sofie Vogel chipped in eight kills in the win.
Setter
Savannah Cook orchestrated the offense with a career-high 59 assists, along with five digs and four blocks. Graduate student
Mandi Morioka anchored the defense with 17 digs and added three service aces on the afternoon.
UP NEXT
FIU returns back home for a four-match homestand, beginning on Friday, Oct. 31 - Saturday, Nov. 1, facing Jacksonville State. Match on Friday is set for 6 p.m. and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
