KENNESAW, Ga. – The FIU volleyball program dropped its weekend opener at Kennesaw State in four sets Friday evening.
FIU (8-7, 2-1 CUSA) fell in the opening frame, 25-15, but bounced back with a gritty 28-26 win in set two to even the match. The Owls edged the Panthers in a close 25-23 third set before sealing the contest with a 25-17 victory in the fourth.
Three Panthers notched double-digit kill performances, led by
Kira Givans with a team-high 15 kills, marking her eighth double-digit effort of the season.
Sophomore
Jillian Huckabey recorded her second double-double of the year, finishing with a season-high 12 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks.
Middle blocker
Magda Stambrowska also added 10 kills, her second double-digit showing of the season, while junior
Courtney O'Brien chipped in six kills and five digs.
Setter
Savannah Cook directed the attack with 37 assists and four digs, while senior libero
Mandi Morioka anchored the back line with a team-best 15 digs.

FIU wraps up the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. against the Kennesaw State Owls. It will be streamed live on ESPN+ inside the Vystar Arena.
