MIAMI – The FIU volleyball program continued its red-hot form with a dominant straight-set sweep over Middle Tennessee on Friday evening inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
FIU (17-9, 11-2 CUSA) extended its conference win streak to nine — the longest in program history — while also notching its fifth consecutive victory overall. The Panthers have now won nine straight matches on their home floor this season.
The Panthers cruised to set scores of 25-12, 28-26, and 25-11, controlling the match from start to finish behind a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort.
Sophomore
Kira Givans led the way with 12 kills, marking her 16th double-digit kill performance of the season.
Jillian Huckabey added eight kills and eight digs in a well-rounded effort.
Senior middle blocker
Magda Stambrowska chipped in eight kills, two aces, and a pair of blocks, while
Sofie Vogel registered seven kills, four digs, and three total blocks.
Setter
Savannah Cook orchestrated the offense with 35 assists, three service aces, and six digs. Defensively, senior libero
Mandi Morioka anchored the back row with a team-high 23 digs, while
Kambree Rodriguez added 13 digs.
As a team, FIU posted 46 kills and 63 digs while limiting Middle Tennessee to just 26.
UP NEXT
FIU closes out the regular season home slate on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.. In addition, prior to the match, the Panthers will honor six senior for senior day. It will be streamed live on ESPN+ from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
