The Panthers will kick off their season against No. 13 Georgia State. FIU hasn't faced GSU since the 2022 season and holds a 9-7 advantage in their all-time series. In the 2024 season, Georgia State earned a spot in the NCAA Beach Volleyball Tournament as the 14-seed but fell to the 3-seed, Stanford, in the first round.
Next, FIU will take on in-state rival No. 16 Florida Atlantic. The Panthers have dominated the Owls in their history, boasting a 21-7 record since both teams started their beach volleyball programs. Last season, FIU went 2-1 against FAU, with their lone loss coming in the CUSA Tournament.
Day two of the Tampa Invite begins with a match against No. 14 Washington at 12 p.m. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season, with FIU also set to travel to Seattle for the Husky Invitational later in the year. The Panthers are 0-2 all-time against Washington, having lost their only contest last season, 4-1. Washington secured a spot in the NCAA Beach Volleyball Tournament as the 13-seed but was defeated by Florida State, 3-1, in the first round.
The Panthers' final match of the invite will be against the host school, Tampa University. FIU holds a perfect 4-0 record against Tampa, most recently defeating the Spartans 3-2 in the 2023 season. The Spartans are coming off a national championship victory at the AVCA Small College Championships in Tavares, Fla., their fourth national championship in program history.
