MIAMI - No.17 FIU Beach Volleyball will begin the first of two home tournaments on Feb. 28-Mar. 1, welcoming Southern Miss. and Utah on day one of the Invite, and Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 12 Florida Atlantic on day two to the FIU Invite.

FIU will begin the tournament against Southern Miss on day one of the FIU Invite at 8 a.m. at the FIU Beach Volleyball Courts. The Golden Eagles have opened their season with a 1-4 record, losing matches to FGCU, North Alabama, No. 6 Florida State, and No. 8 LSU. However, Southern Miss won their first match of the year against Spring Hill, 4-1, in their final contest at the 2025 Beach Burg Bash. This will be the first meeting between FIU and Southern Miss since 2021, when the Panthers defeated the Golden Eagles 4-1.
Later that day, FIU will face off against Utah at 2 p.m. The Utes have started their 2025 season strong, going 4-0 at the UC Davis Weekend. They first defeated UC Davis 4-1 and then went on to beat San Jose State 5-0. On day two of the weekend, Utah claimed a 4-0 win over San Jose State again before finishing the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Santa Clara. This will be the first-ever matchup between FIU and Utah.
On day two of the tournament, FIU will take on Palm Beach Atlantic, who are off to a perfect 5-0 start after a 4-1 win over Florida Southern in their opening tri-match of the season. The Sailfish went on to beat Webber International and Warner 5-0 in subsequent matches, and then once again defeated Florida Southern 4-1 and Saint Leo 5-0. FIU has never lost to PBA, having defeated the Sailfish in all three of their meetings last season.
The Panthers' final match of the tournament will be against No. 12 Florida Atlantic. FIU is coming off a 3-2 loss to FAU at the season-opening Tampa Invite last weekend. Florida Atlantic, ranked No. 16 to start the season, had an impressive weekend, defeating No. 14 Washington, No. 17 FIU, the reigning D-II National Champions in Tampa, and No. 13 Georgia State. FIU will look to avenge their previous loss to Florida Atlantic in the final match of the Invite at 4 p.m. on March 1.
