DALLAS, Texas – The FIU baseball program fell in the second game of its weekend series, dropping an 8-0 decision to No. 20 Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Horner Ballpark.
Dallas Baptist (31-13, 15-5 C-USA) set the tone early, scoring seven combined runs over the first three innings to seize control and ultimately secure the series win.
The Panthers (26-21, 9-10 C-USA) allowed a sacrifice fly in the first inning before the Patriots erupted for five runs in the second, highlighted by a pair of RBI groundouts and a two-run home run. DBU added a run in the third with an RBI single and capped its scoring with an RBI walk in the eighth.
FIU starter Owen Puk suffered his first loss of the season, surrendering four earned runs in 1.2 innings of work. Jarek Woodward followed with 2.1 innings, allowing just one run. Ryan Reyerson delivered a scoreless fifth inning with a strikeout, Bryce Greene contributed a season-high two no-hit innings, and Shane Tucker tossed a clean frame of his own.
At the plate, FIU managed five hits, led by leadoff hitter Javier Crespo, who went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to eight games. The performance also marked his ninth multi-hit game of the season. Andrew Ildefonso, Brendan Roney, and Kareh Valentin each added a hit in the effort.
