Men's Soccer Secures Third Straight Shutout With 1-0 Win Over Missouri State

Capriati delivered the lone goal in the win

MIAMIFIU men's soccer forward Pasquale Capriati netted the decisive goal to lift the Panthers to a 1-0 American Conference victory over Missouri State on Sunday evening at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the Panthers (4-2-2) extended their winning streak to three matches and notched their second conference win of the season. In addition, the Panthers rocked their newly-debuted VICE uniforms, which were released on social media earlier in the week.

The result also marked FIU's third consecutive shutout—its first such stretch since 2022, when the program captured both the American Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

After a gritty opening half that featured eight combined shots, FIU turned up the pressure in the second frame. The breakthrough came in the 71st minute, as junior forward Capriati buried his fourth goal of the season—and his second in as many matches—to put the Panthers ahead. He now leads FIU in both goals and points (11).

Missouri State pressed late, but goalkeeper Nigel Van Haveren delivered a crucial save in the closing minutes to preserve the win. The clean sheet marked his third of the season and sixth of his career, while raising his total saves to 23.

FIU's back line held firm behind 90-minute efforts from David Boccuzzo, Leonardo Consoloni, Mathys Lefebvre, Diego Sanchez, and Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano, who anchored the defense to secure the result. The Panthers tallied four shots in total, with Capriati and Consoloni recording the two on target.
