MIAMI – Montelene Dymond scored the lone goal of the match to lead FIU to a 1-0 victory over previously undefeated UCF (5-1), marking the Panthers' first win over the Knights since the 2000 season.
The match started fast, with FIU (3-1-2) capitalizing on its first opportunity of the game. Noa Olivia Ganthier delivered a beautiful assist to junior forward Montelene Dymond, who broke into open space and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net. It was Dymond's fifth goal of the season, already surpassing her total from the 2024 campaign, and Ganthier's first assist of the campaign.
FIU carried the 1-0 lead into halftime after a strong defensive showing in the first half.
In the second half, UCF pushed forward with more attacking intent, outshooting FIU 7-4. However, the Panther defense held firm. Goalkeeper Valery Restrepo recorded her second consecutive clean sheet, making two saves on 11 total shots. She now has 17 saves on the season and has lowered her goals-against average (GAA) to 1.00.
The match was evenly contested overall. UCF held a slight edge in total shots (13-11), but FIU led in shots on goal (3-2).
Dymond paced the Panthers with three shots, including two on goal, while Maya Maxwell contributed two shots, one of which was on target.
The win marks just the fifth time in program history that FIU has defeated UCF in regular-season play.
