Men's Soccer Battles to a Draw vs Stony Brook

Capriati tallied two assists on the night

MIAMI – The FIU men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against Stony Brook on Saturday evening at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.

The Panthers struck twice in the first half before the Seawolves answered with a pair of second-half goals to level the match.

FIU opened the scoring in the 13th minute when forward Johan Helan found the back of the net for the second straight match, finishing with his right foot off a pass from Pasquale Capriati.

The Panthers doubled their lead in the 34th minute as forward Alejandro Nasato converted on a strike, assisted by Capriati and David Boccuzzo, sending FIU into the break with a 2-0 advantage.

Stony Brook responded after halftime, cutting the deficit in the 54th minute and later equalizing in the 86th on a penalty kick.

FIU controlled much of the attack, outshooting the Seawolves, 13-3. Boccuzzo paced the Panthers with four shots, including one on target, while Leonardo Consoloni, Mathys Lefebvre, Owen Travis, and Diego Sanchez each logged the full 90 minutes.

Capriati turned in a standout performance with two assists, while goalkeeper Beltran Fernandez made his first start of the season.
