MIAMI - Women's basketball's Rhema Collins has been awarded Conference USA's Player of the Week for the period ending January 18, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.

The junior has been stellar all season, continuing her great play into the conference slate. In the Panthers' first road trip of the new year, they traveled to New Mexico State before stopping at UTEP. Against New Mexico State, Collins put up a game-high 29 points on an efficient 8-12 from the field, adding on 13 points from the charity stripe. At the time, it was Collins' third game of the season scoring 20 points or more.

The 6'2 guard brought down 10 rebounds, securing her eighth double-double of the season. On the defensive side, the Bahamas native was all over the court, ending the contest against the Aggies with two steals and two blocks.

The junior followed up her performance against New Mexico State with her CUSA-leading ninth double-double showing at UTEP. Collins was again the game's leading scorer, dropping 22 points, 14 of which coming from the free-throw line. Similar to her contest against the Aggies, Collins again was a force on the glass, tying a career-high with 16 rebounds in the game, six being offensive boards, of which she is second in the country.

The guard was again a lot to handle on defense, adding on three three blocks and three steals to round out her stellar weekend.

This is the second time Rhema Collins has won Player of the Week, her first coming for the period ending December 8, when the junior popped off for 40 points against Georgia State.
