LYNCHBURG, Va. — Women's soccer (4-6-3, 1-3-0 CUSA) drops its match at Liberty on Sunday afternoon, 1-0.
The Panthers played the Flames well in the first half, namely the defense who allowed zero goals on 11 shots seen against Liberty. The FIU offense garnered one shot and one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.
FIU went into the half with the Flames tied, 0-0, with Liberty coming into the matchup No. 25 in RPI.
Liberty took the lead late in the second half after a batted ball in the box found its way into the back of the Panther net, giving the Flames a 1-0 lead. FIU was unable to find the equalizer, leading to their third loss of the conference-slate.
Despite giving up the late goal, goalkeeper Valery Restrepo played well, tying a career-high with nine saves on 22 shots seen, matching her total earlier this season in a match against Miami.
The FIU offense totaled three shots and two shots on goal, with Roxy Brewer and Mariana Barreto owning the Panthers' shots on goal.
