MIAMI – FIU men's soccer forward Sergio Perello was named American Conference Freshman of the Week, while graduate student striker Santi Possu earned Honorable Mention, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Perello earned his first Freshman of the Week honor after recording his first assist of the season in Saturday's 1-1 draw at No. 15 Charlotte on Oct. 17. He played 80 minutes in the match and has recorded a goal and an assist over his last three matches. In addition, Perello has appeared in all 13 matches this season.

Perello becomes the first Panther to earn American Conference Freshman of the Week honors since Sept. 8, 2025, when Johan Helan received the award.

Possu earned his fifth weekly conference honor of the season and his fourth Honorable Mention recognition after scoring in the 1-1 draw at No. 15 Charlotte. The goal marked the graduate student's team-leading ninth of the season, and he continues to lead FIU with 19 points.

Possu is tied for the conference lead with nine goals overall and five goals in American Conference play. Nationally, he ranks 11th in total goals and 10th in goals per game (0.75).

Possu has earned American Conference Honorable Mention recognition four times this season (Sept. 21, Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and Oct. 17), in addition to being named American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31.
