MIAMI – The FIU baseball program returns home this weekend to host the reigning Patriot League champion Holy Cross Crusaders in a four-game series at FIU Baseball Stadium.

The Panthers (3-1) are coming off their third straight win Tuesday, Feb. 17, a 12-5 road victory over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in Daytona Beach, Fla., marking FIU's first midweek win of the season. FIU opened the season last weekend by taking the series from Villanova at home.
Through four games, FIU's offense has recorded 34 hits and 33 runs, with five Panthers batting over .300.
Senior infielder
Vicente Feliciano has been a power presence, hitting three home runs in the last two games, including his first-career multi-homer outing against Bethune-Cookman. He drove in four runs in the victory, with all three of his first hits this season coming via the long ball.
Aidan Cohall leads the team with six hits and five RBIs, recording back-to-back multi-hit games, including two doubles and two RBIs at Bethune-Cookman, followed by a three-hit performance against Villanova.
Redshirt sophomore
Luca Reyes has a hit in all four games, tallying four RBIs and a home run, while reaching base four times Tuesday against Bethune-Cookman.
At the top of the lineup, CUSA Preseason selections
Andrew Ildefonso and
Cole Cleveland have combined for six hits, with Ildefonso reaching base in all four games and Cleveland driving in a run with a sacrifice fly Tuesday.
Boston Doeschot has recorded a double and three RBIs through three games, including a walk-off sacrifice fly in a 4-3 win over Villanova on Feb. 15.
Behind the plate, catchers
Marc Hersh and
Aris Rivera have combined for four hits and four RBIs in their starts, while
Samuel Fischer has started every game in the infield, reaching base nine times with one RBI.
FIU's pitching staff has been solid early in the season.
Julian Mlodzinski and
Bryce Turner earned wins in relief Feb. 14 and 15, respectively. Mlodzinski threw three no-hit innings with four strikeouts, a career-high in innings pitched. Turner followed with three scoreless innings, allowing no hits with two strikeouts. Woodward was sharp in his Sunday start, allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings.
Clayton Sherwood struck out the side in relief Saturday, while
Mason Koczwara has recorded five strikeouts through two games, including striking out the side at Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 17
Enrique Sierra tallied three innings with five strikeouts and earned his first career win at Bethune-Cookman, tossing two scoreless innings with four punchouts.
HISTORY WITH HOLY CROSS
This weekend marks FIU's first series against the Crusaders and just the second meeting overall in Miami.
FIU won the lone previous matchup, 9-5, on March 5, 2000.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Holy Cross enters the weekend at 0-3 after a road sweep by the VCU Rams in Richmond, Va. The Crusaders fell 2-1 on Friday, Feb. 13, before dropping a Saturday doubleheader by a combined 33-8 runs.
Last season, Holy Cross recorded 31 wins, captured the Patriot League title, and earned a berth in the Chapel Hill Regional. Nick Spaner leads the Crusaders with three hits, including a double and an RBI, while Van Coughlin has one home run and three RBIs.
On the mound, Jaden Wywoda anchors the staff with five innings pitched, allowing three hits with four strikeouts. Jake Lenhan has tossed 3.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts, while Aidan Gilbert has thrown a scoreless inning in relief with one strikeout.
