Women's Basketball Sets Record in Dominant Win Over Delaware, 62-36

The Panthers set the record for the fewest points allowed in a conference game in program history

MIAMI – Women's basketball (16-9, 9-5 CUSA) dominated Delaware (12-14, 6-8 CUSA) on Thursday afternoon, 62-36.

With just 36 points scored against, the Panthers set a program record for the fewest points allowed in a conference regular season game. The previous fewest in the Conference USA era was 40 points against UTSA in 2014 and 2019, with the fewest coming in FIU's final year in the Sun Belt when the Panthers held Troy to just 39 points in 2013.

The win ties their highest point differential of the season against a division-one team, formerly beating Western Kentucky by 26 as well earlier this season.

The game was close heading into the half, with FIU leading by just six after the first 20 minutes.

The second half proved to be all Panthers, with FIU out-scoring Delaware by 20 in the final two quarters, putting up 37 and holding the Blue Hens to just 17 points.

Rhema Collins once again proved to be dominant in the Panther win, putting up 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds, also taking away two steals.

FIU standout Parris Atkins was a star on Thursday morning, putting up her first double-double of her career with a 17 point, 10 rebound afternoon. The senior added on three assists while blocking one shot and notching one steal.

Adama Badjie Coly was FIU's final double-digit scorer. The Spain native put up 10 points, also dominating the glass with eight rebounds, adding one one assist to round out her afternoon.

The win marked the first victory over the Blue Hens in FIU program history.
