Women's Basketball Dominates in Season Sweep of Liberty, 66-45

Parris Atkins scores 25 points in her senior night, with Rhema Collins ending in a double-double

MIAMI – Women's basketball (17-9, 10-5 CUSA) completes the season sweep over Liberty (14-12, 8-7 CUSA) in dominant fashion, winning 66-45.

A great defensive effort from start to finish, the Panthers started hot out of the gate, putting up 24 first quarter points, only allowing four to the Flames in the opening 10 minutes. Liberty battled in the second quarter, cutting the FIU lead to 30-17 going into the half.

The Panthers kept their foot on the gas in the second half, out-scoring the Flames 36-28 over the final 20 minutes, using a 20-11 third quarter to keep Liberty at bay. The win marked the first sweep over Liberty in the regular season for the first time in program history.

Senior Parris Atkins shined on Senior Day, ending the game with 25 points on 50% shooting, going 8-9 from the free-throw line. Atkins was a force all over the court, adding on five assists and three steals to round out her afternoon.

Rhema Collins was the only other Panther in double-digits, putting up 16 points and 10 rebounds, her CUSA-leading 12th double-double of the season. Collins had a block and assist to complete another stellar game for the junior.

Junior Riley Burd ended the contest with a career-high nine points, knocking down three triples on 50% shooting from beyond the arc.

The win marks the tenth of conference-play for the Panthers, the second most in head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley's tenure at FIU, with the most being 11 in the 2023-24 season.
