MIAMI - FIU beach volleyball welcomes two teams in Palm Beach State and Palm Beach Atlantic to the FIU Beach Volleyball Courts on Modesto A. Maidique Campus for a one-day tri-meet on Saturday, February 28, with the Panthers playing at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Panthers are coming off their first meet of the season at the Boca Beach Bash where FIU went 2-2 over the two-day event to start the year. The Panthers beat Palm Beach Atlantic in the second match of day one, before besting Coastal Carolina in the first match of day two. Kendra Brown and Isabella Pereira were stars for FIU on court three, going undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record in the meet, including a win over then-ranked No. 15 Florida Atlantic.

The Panthers will play Palm Beach State for their first of two matchups this season. The PBSC Panthers are off to a 6-1 start on the season, including a 2-0 record against Sun-Lakes Conference teams of the NJCAA. FIU will be the first of seven division-one matchups for the JUCO, with Palm Beach State also playing the likes of Nebraska, TCU, FGCU, USC, Sam Houston and Jacksonville.

Palm Beach Atlantic will head to Miami for their second match in as many weeks against the Panthers, with FIU beating the Sailfish 4-1 at the Boca Beach Bash in the first week of the season. On the season, PBA is 4-4, going undefeated against non-D1 opponents, but 0-4 against division-one competition. A competitive D2 team, the Sailfish made it to the semifinals of the AVCA Small College Championships last season, falling to Tampa, 3-0, finishing third place in the country. FIU is undefeated against Palm Beach Atlantic in nine all-time meetings.
